What Lent is and Why You Should Participate

The season of lent is the 40 day time period that leads up to Easter Weekend. As a church family, we spend this time turning our attention to repentance and accepting the grace that comes from Jesus sacrifice on the cross.

Wednesday, February 18 – Thursday, April 2
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Saturday (the day before Easter).

During these days, we'd invite you to spend extra time seeking God by participating in one or all of the following:

  • Practice repentance and confession with a friend
  • Fast Meals as a way to re-order desire
  • Invest time in daily prayer and communion with Jesus

"The purpose of Lent is not to force on us a few formal obligations, but to ‘soften’ our heart so that it may open itself to the realities of the spirit, to experience the hidden ‘thirst and hunger’ for communion with God.”

- Reverend Alexander Schmemann
