Letting Jesus Call Others Through You

Ephesians 4:1 (NIV) “I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”

2 Corinthians 5:18-20 (TLB) God has given us the privilege of urging everyone to come into his favor and be reconciled to him. For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men’s sins against them but blotting them out. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others. We are Christ’s ambassadors. God is using us to speak to you: we beg you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, receive the love he offers you—be reconciled to God.

The story we’re sticking to

God calls others as I share MY story.

See the Telling My Story Worksheet

God will call others as I tell THE story.

Find a video of this at:

Romans 10:13-14, 17 (NCV) Anyone who calls on the Lord will be saved. But before people can ask the Lord for help, they must believe in him; and before they can believe in him, they must hear about him; and for them to hear about the Lord, someone must tell them…So faith comes from hearing the Good News, and people hear the Good News when someone tells them about Christ.

God does the heavy lifting when we give our witness.

John 15:26-27 (NLT) “But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me. And you must also testify about me because you have been with me from the beginning of my ministry.”

The reluctant witness

See Acts 9:1-18 (p.975)

1. Fear is a typical response when God taps me to witness.

Matthew 10:19-20 (TEV) “Do not worry about what you are going to say or how you will say it; when the time comes, you will be given what you will say. For the words you will speak will not be yours; they will come from the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”

2. God’s already at work in those he sends me to.

3. My most vital ability is availability.

1 Peter 3:15-16 (NLT) You must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way.

4. Jesus has amazing plans for every person he sends me to!

Colossians 1:6 (NLT) This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and under-stood the truth about God’s wonderful grace.

Galatians 1:15-16 (ICB) “God had special plans for me even before I was born. So he called me through his grace that I might tell the Good News about his Son…”

Isaiah 43:7 (MSG) “I want them back, every last one who bears my name, every man, woman, and child Whom I created for my glory, yes, personally formed and made each one.”
