Psalm 19:1-3 (NIV) The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
John 8:32 (CEV) “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
1 Peter 3:15 (NJB) Always have your answer ready for people who ask you the reason for the hope that you have.
Matthew 22:37 (NIV) Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’”
Exodus 3:14 (BBE) And God said to him, I AM WHAT I AM:, Say to the children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you.
Genesis 1:1 (ESV) In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
John 1:1, 3 (NIV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
Psalm 111:2 (NASB) Great are the works of the LORD; They are studied by all who delight in them.
Psalm 139:13-14 (NIV) For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
2 Timothy 3:16 (TEV) All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living.
2 Peter 1:19-21 (NKJV) And so we have the prophetic word con-firmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
Have you struggled with faith versus science? What was the turning point for you?
When you read 1 Peter 3:15 what do you feel? Frightened that someone will ask you? Inadequate because you don’t know what to say? Confident that you can share “the hope that you have”? The best start is to simply share your story – “Before I met Jesus, my life was…, when I met Jesus (this is what happened), and now I …”. There is no “right answer” or trick, just share your story (because it’s really his story!).
