At a dedication service, parents publicly commit to raise their children in a way that pleases God. They also commit to lead their children toward Christian living and a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ. These commitments reflect the parents’ belief in the Bible as the standard for living, the Church as a community of faith in which children can grow and flourish, and in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Our Parent Child Dedication services will be held on a Saturday morning from 9:30am to 11am.
The following are our dedication services planned for 2020. Follow the link to sign up for one of the remaining dates.
Our pastoral staff will spend time talking about the importance of your role as a parent in the life of your child. They will also talk about the role of the church and how our NP Kids Team can help equip you for this vital responsibility.
During the service, participating parents will respond together to the following questions:
After you make these commitments, we will invite friends and family members to affirm their support by standing and joining in a brief prayer. If you and your family desire to have a special time of prayer after the service, our Pastors will be available to pray with you.
A photographer will be available to take a family picture (which will be added to your Dedication Certificate), and we’ll also provide fruit, pastries and coffee for you and your guests to enjoy.
For it is by God’s grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God’s gift, so that no one can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8–9
WHEN DO THE DEDICATION SERVICES TAKE PLACE?
Our Dedication service is offered three times a year and will take place on a Saturday morning from 9:30am-11am.
CAN I INVITE GRANDPARENTS, RELATIVES, AND FAMILY FRIENDS TO THE SERVICE?
By all means! You will find that this will enhance the significance of the service for you, and will also give them an opportunity to witness your own faith in Jesus Christ.
CAN I INVITE GODPARENTS TO BE A PART OF THE SERVICE?
We realize that there are some faith backgrounds that require or encourage Godparents to be involved in a ceremony for children. At this service though, we focus specifically on the Parents responsibility to their child as you respond to the questions (above). Godparents are gladly welcomed and encouraged to come to the service to support and celebrate with you!
WILL I RECEIVE A CERTIFICATE OF DEDICATION?
Yes! The certificate will be sent to you in the mail, after we’ve received the family photo.
WHAT IS APPROPRIATE ATTIRE FOR THIS SERVICE?
You can come as dressed up as you’d like, or as informal as you’d like, it’s entirely up to you. Feel free to dress as though you were coming to one of our regular Sunday morning services.
