WEDNESDAY, 12/12

INVADE

What we want students to learn: That God’s plan to save the world through the birth of Jesus is not just a fun holiday; rather a massive invasion into the broken world.

What we want students to do with what they’ve learned: Recognize and remember what the Christmas season is really all about. And to thank God for his perfect plan to save us.

Main Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:27

Outline

(Front)

INVADE- GOD’S PLAN TO SAVE THE WORLD

Luke 2:12
This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

1 Corinthians 1:27
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

GOD’S PLAN TO SAVE THE WORLD IS PERFECT TIMING – EVEN WHEN IT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE

Luke 1:26
In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God

FOR THE WORLD: GRACE AND FORGIVENESS

Matthew 1:21
He will save His people from their sins.

FOR ISRAELITES: PROMISE FULFILLED

FOR JOSEPH AND MARY: A NEW, BETTER PLAN

GOD’S PLAN TO SAVE THE WORLD INVOLVES PEOPLE

TALK IT OVER

1. Have you ever thought of Christmas, the birth of Jesus, as an invasion? Why is that a good way to think about it?

2. Why is it important for us to know that God’s plan was perfectly timed- even though it might be confusing to us?

3. How do you feel knowing that God’s plan involved people? Does that change the way you think about yourself.
