And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to the prayers. Acts 2:42
Leader Tip: 8 Habits of Effective Small Group Leaders:
Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at the 8 key habits to develop as a small group leader. Number one is: Dream of leading a healthy, growing, multiplying group. I think Acts 2:42 above gives a great description of what a healthy group looks like. The elements that must exist are, devotion to teaching, connection, food, and prayer. When these elements are in place our groups will grow and when growth happens, multiplication is next. Multiplication, though it is hard, is a sign of health. As leaders, we must pray for health, growth, and multiplication. We also must anticipate that with God, all these things are possible.
As we are working within the new mid-week format, we need to establish how we will thrive through growth! Now is the time to revisit putting your student(s) who is gifted at hospitality in the role of welcoming new students. The whole groupshould be welcoming, but this specific student will be the one to explain what’s going on in the group and exchange contact info so that they can follow up with the new student before the next small group.
February 6 – eat ice cream for breakfast day (do it!)

February 10 – An Evening to Treasure
February 10 – Sylvia’s birthday! (and Jake Manning’s)
February 14 (Tuesday) – Valentine’s Day <3
February 17 – Random Acts of Kindness Day
February 20 – President’s Day (no school)
Thanks for your patience as we work out the issues in attendance and adding new students. So that we don’t miss anyone and so that we get the necessary info, we are asking that you have all students in your group fill out a connection card, if they didn’t last week. We would still love for you to take attendance through the email you receive, but we currently have a lot of missing information so we need to clean that up before we can move forward. Thank you!
Please make it a priority to be at the wherehouse by 6:30pm to go over the details of the evening and to pray together. Send a message through GroupMe or text Kevin at 217-4784 if you’ll be late or won’t be there.
I wanted to remind you that Jake Gatewood will be with us, sharing his testimony. He is a Clovis High graduate who was drafted in the first round (41st pick overall) in the 2014 draft. He was projected as a possible #1 overall pick as a senior but ended up #41. He has had to learn a lot about pressure and that’s some of what he will be sharing…how to handle pressure, school, AP classes, family, the expectations of others, etc. He will share about his failures and how he finally surrendered his life to Jesus. He is supposed to send me a outline of his talk/interview, and when I receive that I will forward it to you.
Thanks for serving,
